Cyclevia announces that it has reached a collection rate of 60% in 2023, i.e. 239,000 gross tons of collected used oils. Half (51%) were done with car maintenance experts. This collection allowed 225,000 tons to be delivered to processing centers, for a regeneration and recycling rate of 81%.
Co-organization of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) sector for mineral or synthetic, lubricating or industrial oils, states that 17,000 tons have been collected in 2023. 207 communities (a total of 1,956 collection points, out of a total of around 3,500 recycling centers). these the results are encouraging, although we still have a long way to go. Cyclevia also announces that it has withdrawn 6,000 tonnes of oil used abroad, or 21% more than in in 2022, and that 93% of these volumes were exported to mainland France for regeneration (compared to 63% in 2022).
Still on the subject of collection, Cyclevia adds that the quality of collected used oils is also gradually improving. He specifies it the number of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) pollution has decreased by more than half compared to 2022..
As for the deposit, Cyclevia explains it almost 413,000 tons of oil were announced last year, i.e more than 90% of estimated sales volumes. As for the ecomodulation based on the ecological properties of the oil, it gives results contrasts : 10% of dangerous products are still placed on the market, the incorporation of regenerated oils reaches 9%, and co-labelled oils make up only 0.2% of sales.
Cyclevia wants a more operational REP
The eco-organization also explains that it wants to develop its model. The call for submission of projects was launched in February 2024 and will end in February 2025.
