After the events that took place on Thursday, May 23, KBC wanted to give some answers:
“Yesterday morning, three agents in the oncology treatment room experienced tingling in their tongues. University Hospital contacted SAMU and the poison control center for evaluation, their condition did not warrant further investigation. Later in the morning, nine officers experienced tingling in their mouths and headaches asked the firefighters to come and do additional research.
Air tests did not reveal the presence of potentially hazardous chemicals. All tests were negative. There are currently no indications of a leakage of chemotherapy products.
All CHU agents involved are doing well and have returned home. They will be under the supervision of the occupational health service. No patients were affected and there were no interruptions in patient care. Everything is back to normal.”
AND chemical leakage was discovered this Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Rangueil Hospital, part University Hospital in Toulouse.
43 people were affected
43 people were affected and treated by 37 firefighters from Haute-Garonne, around 3 p.m.
Nine of them suffer from itching after the incident.
Experts are still on site
According to our information, the suspicious smell came from one room handling chemotherapy product.
