The Unicode Consortium has just opened a beta review period for Unicode 16 s new emojis to start with ! This is a first preview, the look of the emoji may vary in the coming months. As every year, in July we should have an official presentation of these new emojis that will be sent to Unicode for approval.

8 new emojis are coming to iPhone

Last year we were allowed two faces: one who agrees and one who refutes. This year, a face representing fatigue is revealed. The latter could serve well to illustrate his lack of sleep or his emotional exhaustion. Then we find the fingerprint which represents identity control and security.

In the field of nature, 2 emojis appear: a leafless tree that represents winter or drought, and a root vegetable that can be interpreted as a beet, turnip, or radish.

Harp and spade have been added to the item list. More abstract, we find emoji “splash” which at first glance looks like a paint stain. Finally, the island of Sark, located above Jersey, should see its own flag.

Here’s a list of future emojis being considered:

  1. A face with dark circles under the eyes
  2. Digital printing
  3. A tree without leaves
  4. Root vegetables
  5. Harp
  6. Shovel
  7. Splash
  8. Flag of Sarka (Canal Island)
