Age control for confirmed pornography, the offense of censored online contempt… the Internet Security Law (SREN) was announced

The Law on SREN was the subject of fierce debate in the Parliament at the beginning of spring, especially because of the measure that many considered an attack on freedom of expression. The well-known criminal offense of online disparagement, which was intended to be suppressed in Article 19 of the proposed law ” any content that offends the dignity of a person or is offensive, degrading or humiliating to a person, or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive situation against him ”, was thus refuted. The council considered him an addict ” subjective elements related to the perception of the victim. »

In addition to this controversial provision, the supreme body also censored four legal riders, i.e. amendments that were considered to have been introduced during the debates and have no connection with the subject of the bill. Among them, Article 10, which states the objective that ” 100% of French people can have access to a free digital identity » until 2027.
