If you’re heading to a charger in colder conditions, use your vehicle’s navigation to get there. In addition to preparing the battery, this now automatically starts heating the input to the charging port.

When you plug Clear ice and other debris from the charging cable port and the charging port and make sure they are fully connected.
When disconnecting After charging in freezing conditions, if you can’t disconnect, try heating the input of the charging port:
In the Tesla app, you can activate the car defrost or, in the vehicle, activate the rear defroster. You can also prepare in advance: in the Tesla app, go to Schedule > Start, or in the vehicle settings, go to Charging > Schedule > Settings > Preconditioning.
If warming up alone isn’t enough, you can pull the manual release (in the trunk) to release the charging port latch.
