Why developers prefer open source

What technologies do developers consider safe values?

The question was asked of 2000 of them as part of a review promoted by Stack Overflow, a platform dedicated to computer programming.

Open source dominates the ranking of the 10 most proven technologies.

Nationally, the number of full-time equivalent jobs (FTE) would increase by 26,400 by 2027, from 63,800 to 90,200 FTE developing and integrating open source solutions.

Developers, devops, marketers, architects and business consultants make up the top 5 most sought-after profiles in the open source ecosystem. Also, IoT, APIs, and containers make up the top 3 most popular skill areas.

In a Stack Overflow survey, unlike open source, low-code, and no-code technologies, nanotechnology and quantum computing are considered by developers to be the most “experimental.”

What about AI-assisted technologies?

They are still considered “emerging”. However, AI-based programs top the list of apps most likely to be used by the general public, according to developers on the panel.

The success of generative AI like ChatGPT seems to demonstrate this. At the end of last November, an American artificial intelligence research company OpenAI announced the public and open launch of the chatbot.

Since then, ChatGPT has broken the record for the fastest growing regular user base. Just two months after its launch, the chat agent gained attention 100 million users “assets”.
