Abidjan – Journalists from various media houses based in Côte d’Ivoire benefited on Monday, at the initiative of the United States Embassy, from training on the book “Principles of Journalism: What Journalists Need to Know, What the Public Should Demand,” co-authored by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Leanne de Bassompierre, a multilingual South African journalist and correspondent of the American agency Bloomberg from Abidjan, this training seminar insisted on the practice of balanced journalism.

A journalist must reject any preconceptions that could affect his work and adhere to the rules of ethics, which regulate his profession, pointed out Leanne de Bassompierre, in the American space located at the University of Félix Houphouët Boigny. .
Directed work on the topics, namely the independence of journalists and the path to the presidential elections, enabled the participants to create newspaper articles characteristic of topics of national interest.
The respective authors of the work that interested this gathering, namely Bil Kovach, is an American journalist of Albanian origin, former chief of the Washington bureau of the New York Times and former editor-in-chief of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
As for Tom Rosentstiel, he is a writer, journalist, press critic and executive director of the American Press Institute.
