Arc browser has become my default browser — at least on MacOS. (That, A browser company, port this application to Linux). Anyone who has ever used this browser knows that the company behind it does not hesitate to offer new features regularly.
One such feature is ChatGPT integration. However, unlike other browsers, Arc’s AI integration is not very obvious. That’s okay, because once you know how to use it, it’s pretty easy.
Let me show you how to use ChatGPT in Arc Browser.
First, a warning: when you use Arc Max features (the AI-driven features in Arc Browser), the browser sends data to third parties. For example, when you use Ask On Page, the partner is Anthropic. For all other functions, data is sent to OpenAI. If you don’t agree with this, I don’t advise you to enable Arc Max.
How to use ChatGPT in Arc Browser on MacOS
What do you need: The only thing you’ll need is the latest version of Arc Browser on MacOS. Note that Arc Max is not yet available for Windows or Linux.
One thing to keep in mind: if you want to have a backup of your ChatGPT chats, you will need to login to OpenAI on Arc Browser before you start using ChatGPT.
1. Open Arc Max settings
- Open Arc Browser and use the keyboard shortcut Command+T.
- When the command bar opens, type “Max” and press Enter.
- The Arc Max settings pop-up window opens.

2. Enable ChatGPT
- In the Arc Max Settings pop-up window, click the Turn On Max button.
- After you click this button, it becomes Include All.
- By clicking this button, you will activate all functions of Max. If you don’t want to do that, scroll to the bottom of the window, where you’ll find the ChatGPT option.
- Move the ChatGPT On/Off slider until it is in the On position.
- Once you’ve done that, you can close the Arc Max settings popup.

3. Open the order popup again
This is where things can get a little confusing.
You won’t find a ChatGPT button that opens a side panel for queries.
Instead, here’s how to do it. Use Command+T again to open a command window.
4. Open the ChatGPT query
- Type ChatGPT (case insensitive).
- Once you’ve done that, press the Tab key on your keyboard.
- The command bar then becomes the ChatGPT prompt.

You can now type your ChatGPT query, which will open a new Arc browser tab with the response.
No, it’s not as easy as, say, Opera’s Aria AI solution, but Arc Browser makes using ChatGPT very easy.
Hopefully this feature will come to other platforms soon. But if you’re an Arc Browser user and a fan of artificial intelligence, you’ll appreciate this ChatGPT integration.
