Apple is already preparing touchscreens for its next iPad mini. That’s according to a new South Korean report, explaining that the company has asked a subcontractor to handle the new eight-inch panel. This should, however, turn out to be a bit larger, but we can easily assume that the source here is limited to the first unit for simplicity.
The problem is that the iPad mini in question isn’t expected to go on sale until around 2026, if the production schedule that just started is to be believed. However, recent rumors in the corridors have led us to believe that the tablets are planned for the end of 2024. It is difficult to know more at this time, and in any case the manufacturer should not confirm the information. As is often the case, he prefers to keep his future products under wraps before they are announced.
What kind of spec sheet can you expect for the iPad mini 7?
iPad mini, as their name suggests, are Apple’s “compact” tablets. A format that is ultimately quite rare among the competition, because here not only is the screen smaller than a classic tablet, but the performance is also better than that of the initial model. Proof with the “classic” iPad, which is weaker than the iPad mini according to most of the comparisons we have had the chance to consult so far.
There’s no iPad mini powered by an M-series processor yet, but we think the upcoming model could be the first of its kind. The last chip equipped with the sixth generation is the A15 Bionic, which can already be found under the hood of some high-end iPhones, with six cores for the CPU or even five for the graphics card. The Neural Engine, for its part, comes with sixteen cores for AI-enhanced calculations.
Potential release date
Apple generally introduces new products in the spring and September, with occasional exceptions during World Conference for Developers whose next release is scheduled for June.
Many iPads have already seen the light of day between March and May; therefore we can count on marketing at this time for the possible iPad mini planned for 2026.
