Aircraft engines: Canada’s Pratt & Whitney leaves its suitcases in Morocco

Pratt & Whitney Canada has started construction on its new manufacturing plant, Pratt & Whitney Morocco (PWM), in Casablanca, which will produce precision static and structural machine parts for the company’s aircraft engines, including the PT6. That’s what the magazine says Weekly Financial News, specifying that this choice of Morocco follows a careful global comparative analysis which highlighted the presence of an increasing number of airlines in Casablanca, including Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX.

“Since announcing this significant investment less than a year ago, Pratt & Whitney Morocco has made rapid progress hiring an initial group of local employees and working closely with local schools, agencies and the business community to achieve our goal of being fully operational next year.”said Maria Della Posta, president of Pratt & Whitney Canada.

To date, the company has started hiring employees with the support of the Institute of Aviation Professions (IMA). In addition, Pratt & Whitney successfully completed the installation of 80% of the main machinery at the temporary Midparc site to support development activities.

“PWM will be built according to the work principles of continuous improvement in order to increase efficiency, improve quality and reduce complexity and costs. The company will also integrate advanced environmental practices, which is a core value for it.we read.

Once operational, PWM will complement Pratt & Whitney Canada’s current manufacturing sites and supply chain and help supply parts to meet high global customer demand. The machined parts and precision components will be used across the company’s various engine families, complementing Pratt & Whitney’s existing facilities and suppliers.
