A new party in Luxembourg?

A petition has been presented in Luxembourg to make Good Friday a public holiday

In Luxembourg, every year in the calendar there are 11 holidays, but this is not enough for our neighbors. A public petition has just been presented so that our neighbors can enjoy Good Friday like the Germans, Belgians and Alsace-Moselle.

It does not claim this holiday as a day of rest, but more like a religious conviction. If this petition gets 4,500 signatures, a public debate will be opened to discuss this possible public holiday.

Ministers and deputies cannot guarantee the implementation of this “off day”, because it never falls on the same day! Some years Good Friday is celebrated in March, and other years it falls in April.

The signatories of the petition have not said their last word, because for them, Luxembourg does not have many public holidays compared to other countries in Europe.
