When piracy is a problem

Whether you’re a NetRunning pro or prefer to hit the streets of Night City with a shotgun, you must have gone through a hacking interface one day Cyberpunk 2077. If this is the case, you must have found yourself in front of a screen full of numbers and letters without really understanding what to do. It must be said that even if the first hacking mini-games are relatively simple, the game never clearly explains how they work, and many only manage to do the bare minimum by chance. If you also have problems with piracy, we will explain how to do it.

During the hacking sequence you should see a grid (1) of 6 rows (horizontal) with 6 columns (vertical) filled with pairs of numbers and letters such as “55”, “1C”, “BD” or “7A”. To the right of this grate you will find sequences needed to find to achieve different goals (2). You will be able to see above the grate time (3) which you are given (usually 30 seconds) as well as number of clicks (4) maximum (which can be increased by cybernetic implants or benefits from the “Intelligence” tree).

The goal will therefore be to find sequences of numbers in the order sought by the sequences on the right in order to achieve their goals. To do this, you will have to click on the corresponding numbers in the grid, but be careful, you will be limited in your movements. Really, you will have no choice but to start with the numbers in the first row and you will change direction every time you click on a number. In other words, you’ll be alternating rows and columns throughout the minigame.

To complete the first objective in the grid above, you will need to find a 1 Cthen a E9 and end with comics. However, you will notice that starting from 1C in the first row, you will not find E9 in the corresponding column. So you will have no choice but to pick another number and record one of your clicks to find this famous E9 and then be done with BD.

A little known tip for success in all hacks

The problem with this minigame is that it’s not always easy to see where the numbers you’re looking for are, especially when you’re pressed for the measly 30 seconds the game gives you. Especially since the hacking experts must have noticed that it is possible to make several targets in a row if you have enough small squares above the grid. However, two tips could change your life if you don’t know them.

First, and probably most often, know that the timer will only activate when you click on the first number. So it’s entirely possible to pre-determine your path by taking as much time as you like and then chaining the clicks you’ve pre-determined. Second, it is entirely possible to highlight all numbers of the same type in the grid to make them easier to locate.

Really, By hovering over a number on the array on the right side of the screen, all matching numbers will be framed in a grid so you can more easily determine the path.
