More than a quarter of a century has passed since the subject of the influence of various waves emitted by electrical and communication equipment on farming activities has been the subject of discussions and reports. Despite this, nothing seems obvious or developscondemns the report (1) published by the General Council for Food and Agriculture (CGAER) published in May.
The first cases were recorded in the 1990s near the very high voltage from Flamanville (Manche). And since then, regularly, lifters condemn the abnormal behavior and/or production losses of their livestock located near electrical installations, a mobile tower or a wind farm.
Although several research projects, studies and reports have been conducted since then, they have not been followed up or shared to achieve this scientific knowledge strengthens, analyzes CGAER, which conducted a survey of several thousand growers. Research work struggles to find funding. The work was mainly carried out on wild animals, and recommendations were given, especially at the European level, for the protection of species whose orientation, migration and movement are hindered by magnetic fields.
The General Council therefore recommends the initiation of an epidemiological study with exposed and unexposed individuals on the effect of exposure to electromagnetic and electrical waves on the health of cattle herds. At the same time, work should be done on the role of the soil and its characteristics in conducting electromagnetic fields. The same applies to the properties of water exposed to electromagnetic fields.
Moreover, It is necessary to revise the previous references regarding the exposure of animals to waves, especially electromagnetic waves and their sensitivity. They are actually often old when they exist and in any case insufficient, clarifies the report.
