Battery capacity doubled
This was the essential promise from Asus when approaching the ROG Ally X. The autonomy will really take a leap forward. According to the specialized site VideoCardz, who says that he obtained the technical sheet of the console, the battery increases from a capacity of 40 Wh to 80 Wh. A capacity simply doubled, which should solve the significant autonomy problems noted by the press and customers of this portable console.
Logical consequence of this change: the ROG Ally X will gain weight. VideoCardz gives the figure of 678 grams, which therefore means a gain of 70 grams compared to the model currently on the market. A little heavier than a Steam Deck OLED therefore, but still around 200 grams less the Juggernaut Legio GO from Lenovo.
Small design changes have also been made by the Taiwanese brand, starting with a reworked fan, supposed to improve airflow by 10% while reducing noise pollution. In addition, a new directional cross (D-Pad) would be on the program and announced more precisely.
An inevitably higher price
The rest of the technical sheet of the Asus console should not be changed, apart from a RAM that goes from 16 GB to 24 GB. autonomy is the main axis of change in this “X” version of the ROG Ally.
Autonomy… and the price. Indeed, although we will not be really sure when the curtain rises on June 2, the rumors speak of a price of $ 799, that is, a price increase of $ 100 compared to the model Z1 Extreme marketed l last year
In France, we can therefore expect a console sold at around €900.
