Twelve people were injured after the Russian bombing in Kharkiv, while in the Ukrainian village of Rig two people were killed and several were buried under the rubble, including a ten-year-old boy.
Twelve people were injured in an airstrike on Kharkiv on Wednesday after the Russians fired two gliders at the city.
One hit a business in the west of the city, while a woman suffering from an acute stress reaction sought medical attention.
Another munition exploded in the north of the city, in a residential area, injuring 11 people, damaging residential buildings and destroying a cafe and a car wash.
Among the injured are passers-by and residents of the damaged building, and the driver of a nearby bus was the most seriously injured.
One of the munitions hit near the tram roundabout, a residential area in the north of the city.
Two dead in Donetsk, a 10-year-old boy buried under the rubble
Two were killed and two were wounded after Russian shelling of the village of Rig, Pokrovska municipality, Donetsk region.
Authorities say the Russians hit the settlement with an Iskander missile around 11 p.m. Tuesday, hitting a private home. The impact buried a 10-year-old boy under the rubble and killed his parents, who were also present at the time.
Donetsk regional police chief Ruslan Osypenko said rescuers managed to pull the bodies of the child’s parents from under the rubble.
The ten-year-old is being treated in hospital for his injuries.
The peace summit can restore the effectiveness of the UN Charter, says Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that a peace summit in Switzerland in June will be an opportunity to restore full protection to every nation under the United Nations Charter.
“Our peace summit and the participation of world leaders can restore the full effectiveness of the United Nations Charter and restore full protection to every nation,” Zelensky said in a late-night video address to the people of Ukraine.
Russia, which invaded Ukraine more than two years ago, was not invited to the summit.
Austria, Albania, Chile and Mozambique were the last to confirm their participation in the summit.
